What's New in BlueHammer: June 2026
June 2026 release notes: duplicate grouping in Cleaner, faster first-time Drive sync, VPN reconnect fixes, and a lighter Security checker.
We ship an update roughly once a month, and most of what goes into a release is reliability work you’re not meant to notice. June is mostly that: reconnect fixes, a faster first sync, a lighter background checker. The kind of thing that shows up as the absence of an old annoyance rather than a new button. There’s one change you will notice, though, and it’s in Cleaner.
Cleaner: duplicates grouped by content
Duplicate results are now grouped by content across folders. The same photo sitting in both Downloads and Desktop shows up as a single group rather than two unrelated hits, and each group comes with a recommended keeper: the copy in the more organized location. You still decide, but the suggestion saves you from guessing which of two identical files is the “real” one. It reads what’s inside the file, so a renamed copy still lands in the right group.
Large-file preview also loads faster now, which mostly helps when you’re scrubbing through video before deciding whether to remove it.

Drive, VPN, and Security
Drive’s first sync of a large folder is noticeably faster. We now upload small files in parallel instead of one at a time, so the initial pass through a folder full of documents finishes in a fraction of the time it used to. We’ve also made conflict naming clearer: when the same file changes on two Macs, the copies are labeled so you can tell which is which at a glance.
On VPN, we fixed a reconnect issue where waking from a long sleep would occasionally leave the connection down until you toggled it by hand. It should now come back on its own. We’ve also added two new locations, in Frankfurt and Singapore.
Security continues to update its detection lists weekly, as always. The background checker now uses less memory on machines with many browser profiles, which was the setup where a few people noticed it sitting heavier than it should.
The smaller fixes
A handful of the rougher edges are smoothed out this cycle:
- A dialog that rendered slightly too large on 13-inch screens now fits.
- A Cleaner scan progress bar that could stick at 99 percent before finishing now reports honestly.
- The VPN menu bar icon has better contrast in dark mode.
- A few labels that overflowed in longer languages now wrap correctly.
What’s next, and how to update
We’re working on deeper selective sync in Drive, so you’ll be able to choose what lives on each Mac with more precision than the current all-or-nothing folder toggle. That’s the next larger piece.
To get this release, update in-app when the prompt appears, or grab it from the download page. Your settings carry over either way. If you’re new to the suite, our getting-started guide is the place to begin, and if the Cleaner changes have you curious about how we approach removal in the first place, we wrote about safe cleanup and user control in more depth.
Common questions
How do you update BlueHammer?
Update in-app when the prompt appears, or reinstall the latest version from the download page. Either way your settings survive, so you won't have to reconnect Drive folders or reconfigure the VPN. A reinstall over the top is safe and keeps your account and preferences intact.
Where do you report a bug?
Email [email protected] with your macOS version and the steps that trigger the problem. A short list of what you did and what happened instead is enough for us to reproduce most issues. A screenshot helps when the problem is visual.
